Dog Training

Let OUR EXPERT TEAM train your dog

Everyone wants a well-behaved canine companion who can behave in a way that leads to a happy and enjoyable life. At The Canine Culture™, we help bridge the gap in dog training for your pooch. With more than 40 years of experience training dogs for both companionship and obedience competition, our staff can teach you how to train your dog, or we can do it for you.

Kyle Heron, owner of the Canine Culture

What DOG TRAINING techniques do we utilize?

Well-behaved dogs are a pleasure to live with, and they are welcome practically anywhere. How do we work to train your pet to be the perfect companion for your life?

We use a positive-reinforcement technique for our training that can help grow the trust and bond between canine and owner.

All training starts with basic obedience, and establishing a proper human-canine relationship.

Through our Private 1-on-1 and Board & Train programs, our team will customize a program to work on exactly what your pup needs.

Training programs are held in our state-of-the-art, climate-controlled training hall or outside, weather permitting.

PRIVATE 1-ON-1 DOG TRAINING

Private lessons are customizable and well-suited for:

Dogs that need advanced training, such as off-leash, out-of-sight stays and hand signal exercises.

Puppies less than 16 weeks old. (Requires at least two DHPP vaccinations and one Bordetella vaccination at least one week prior to coming to the facility).

How long does it take to train a dog?

The duration of dog training can vary significantly depending on factors such as the dog’s breed, age, temperament, and the specific behaviors you’re aiming to address. Basic obedience training typically takes several weeks to a few months to establish reliable commands such as sit, stay, come, and heel. More advanced training, such as off-leash obedience or specialized tasks like agility or therapy work, may require additional time and consistency. Consistent practice, positive reinforcement, and patience are key elements in achieving successful training outcomes. Of course, dog training is also dependent on you as the owner. It can take time to re-establish your new relationship with your best K-9 friend as you learn to communicate with each other.

What training methods are most effective for dogs?

Effective dog training methods focus on positive reinforcement techniques that reward desired behaviors rather than punishing unwanted ones. Positive reinforcement involves providing rewards such as treats, praise, or playtime when the dog performs the desired behavior, thereby encouraging them to repeat it. This approach builds trust and strengthens the bond between you and your dog while promoting a happy and cooperative learning environment. It’s important to avoid harsh or punitive methods, as these can lead to fear, anxiety, and behavioral issues. Instead, emphasize clear communication, consistency, and patience to help your dog learn and thrive.

What if my dog is reactive to other dogs?
All dogs must be leashed at ALL times while on the property to maintain safety for everyone.
